About us

Salvia is not just another company. Since our founding in 2017, we have grown from a small startup into a globally active team pioneering neuromodulation therapies for migraine. Our mission is to give people with migraine a better life. Our unique, ultra-thin implant is designed to reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks by delivering gentle electrical pulses to the nerves associated with the condition. We are currently in the clinical stage of development.

We are a mission-driven team of 50+ highly motivated colleagues representing over 15 nationalities, with 45% women. Our people bring together a wide range of professional backgrounds and are guided by experienced founders with a proven track record of success. Beyond skills and expertise, we value integrity, curiosity, and collaboration. Our headquarters is located at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, a vibrant innovation hub home to more than 300 high-tech companies shaping the technologies of tomorrow.

The challenge

As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in strengthening financial oversight, preparing for external audits, and supporting the implementation of a new ERP system. This is a pivotal position in professionalizing the finance function, enhancing internal controls, and building scalable, efficient processes that enable future growth, all within the dynamic environment of a fast-paced scale-up.

You will take ownership of critical finance initiatives such as audit readiness, ERP rollout, and ongoing improvements in reporting, compliance, and process design. Your work will directly shape the financial backbone of the organization.

As we expand, we plan to bring administrative finance functions in-house. You will help lay the foundation for this transition and the development of a high-performing finance team.

This is a highly visible role with impact across both daily operations and strategic initiatives. You will report directly to the CFO and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to bring the organization to an “audit ready” state, including improving financial controls, documentation, and reporting processes.
  • Coordinate with auditors and ensure full compliance with internal and external financial standards.
  • Proactively enhance and maintain a robust internal control framework to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Manage or co-lead the implementation of a new ERP system.
  • Improve the structure and reliability of financial data and reporting tools to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders in Operations, Quality, IT, and senior leadership to align business processes with finance requirements.
  • Manage general financial control tasks including intercompany postings, oversight of payment runs, and driving continuous improvement and automation initiatives to support scalability.
  • Support monthly and year-end closing processes, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filings of tax, grant and subsidy reports, identifying and acting on opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide hands-on support with financial administrative tasks when required to ensure operational continuity.
  • Document finance processes thoroughly to ensure clarity, consistency, and ease of scaling.
  • Continuously identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation.

Your Profile

  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP (a must); experience with IFRS is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing organizations for external audit.
  • Demonstrated success in leading or supporting ERP system implementations (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, AFAS, etc.).
  • Structured, analytical, and highly organized, with the ability to manage complex projects independently.
  • Comfortable operating in a scale-up or changing environment, balancing structure with flexibility.
  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
  • A relevant degree in Finance/Accounting; RA/RC/CPA or similar certification is a plus.
  • Affinity with the medical industry would be a plus.

What we offer

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer:

  • A pivotal role in shaping the financial foundation of a fast-growing company.
  • Pension plan and long-term incentive options.
  • Dynamic, international team.
  • Hybrid working arrangement, up to 20% remote.
  • Access to the High Tech Campus ecosystem, including on-site events, networking, restaurants, and lots of nature.
  • Free sports options for Salvia employees, weekly gym access and padel court access with colleagues.
  • Flexible holiday observance: Celebrate the holidays that matter to you.
