Ovalytix: Co-founder position

At Ovalytix, we're on a mission to revolutionize poultry farming through ethical, AI-powered innovation. As a startup within the HighTechXL deep tech ecosystem in Eindhoven, we’re addressing a critical global issue: the mass culling of male chicks and the inefficient incubation of infertile eggs.

Each year, billions of eggs are incubated without knowing whether they’re fertile or will hatch male chicks resulting in major ethical concerns, wasted resources, and financial losses.

To solve his challenge, we’re developing a non-invasive in-ovo detection system using AI, advanced spectroscopy, imaging, and VOC sensing to detect egg fertility and gender before incubation. The result: reduced waste, optimized operations, the elimination of chick culling, and a major leap forward in animal welfare.

we're looking for a co-founder to join our mission. As part of our team you’ll take a leading role in developing and optimizing our proprietary detection technology, helping bring lab innovations to life in hatcheries worldwide. This is a rare opportunity to join a venture at an early stage and shape both the tech and the company from the ground up.

 Key Responsibilities

• Design and prototype experimental setups involving spectroscopy, imaging, and VOC sensing
• Analyze spectral and image data to detect egg fertility and gender
• Collaborate with engineering/software teams on sensor fusion and integration
• Translate research into functional hardware/software systems
• Contribute to feasibility studies, product strategy, and IP development
• Support AI/ML efforts with quality data acquisition and preprocessing

About You

You bring a combination of deep technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit. Ideally, you have:

• A degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Optical/Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or related
• 3–7 years of R&D experience with spectroscopy or imaging systems
• Familiarity with FTIR, Raman, IR/THz imaging, or VOC detection
• Experience with experimental instrumentation and sensor calibration
• A strong analytical mindset and experience with large datasets
• (Bonus) Background in AI/ML for sensor or image data
