THE ROLE
We are looking for an entrepreneur at heart to lead the next phase of HTCE’s startup ecosystem: someone who speaks the language of founders, moves at their pace and turns ambition into results.
As Business Developer – Deeptech & Startups, you are part of the Business Development team of HTCE Site Management B.V., the organization responsible for managing and further developing High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Your mission is to identify promising deeptech startups and scale-ups, convince them to choose High Tech Campus Eindhoven and help them grow and scale on Campus. You build a strong pipeline, stay close to founders throughout their growth journey and turn relationships into new residents, growing companies and increased occupancy.
HTC27 is the central hub and launchpad for early-stage deeptech startups. Around 30 startups are already based there. Your ambition goes beyond filling HTC27: you help startups grow within the wider Campus and actively attract scale-ups that can benefit from HTCE’s unique combination of talent, technology, facilities, collaboration opportunities and access to capital. You build lasting connections within Brainport and the European deeptech landscape.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Actively scout and approach promising deeptech startups and scale-ups, build a qualified pipeline and convert opportunities into new HTCE residents.
- Build strong relationships with founders, understand their business and growth needs, and stay connected as they develop and scale.
- Strengthen HTC27 as an attractive, vibrant launchpad for early-stage deeptech startups and help companies progress within the wider Campus.
- Develop targeted relationships and partnerships with incubators, accelerators and venture capital (VC) funds as important sources of promising startups and scale-ups, and turn these relationships into a structural pipeline for HTCE.
- Actively position HTCE towards scale-ups and demonstrate how locating on Campus can support their next growth phase through access to talent, customers, technology, facilities, partnerships and funding.
- Build and activate a relevant network of investors, corporates, knowledge institutions, government and partners such as BOM and Brainport.
- Connect startups and scale-ups to the people and organizations that can accelerate their growth – from customers and investors to expertise in funding, IP, patents, talent, facilities and commercialization.
- Represent HTCE and its startup and scale-up proposition on Campus and beyond: at relevant events, conferences and within startup, scale-up, investor and deeptech networks.
Networking is never a goal in itself. You turn conversations and connections into tangible opportunities, new companies on Campus and growth of existing residents.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- A strong and qualified pipeline and successful attraction of relevant deeptech startups and scale-ups to HTCE.
- Growth and occupancy of HTC27 and continued growth of startups within the wider Campus.
- A strong network of incubators, accelerators and VC funds that generates a continuous flow of relevant startup and scale-up opportunities.
- Strong retention: startups and scale-ups see HTCE as the place to stay and grow.
- Connections that lead to tangible results, such as access to customers, funding, expertise, facilities and strategic partners.
- A growing startup and scale-up community that contributes to increased demand for space and long-term occupancy across the Campus.
WHAT YOU BRING
You are an entrepreneur at heart. You speak the language of founders, are genuinely interested in their business and quickly understand what they need to move forward. You are energetic, commercially driven and naturally connect people – but always with a focus on results.
- Relevant experience in business development, startups, venture building, investment or the deeptech/innovation ecosystem.
- A proven ability to find opportunities, build a pipeline and convert relationships into tangible business results.
- Strong affinity with deeptech and entrepreneurship and the ability to build credibility with founders.
- A strong relevant network – or the ability to quickly build one – across investors, venture capital funds, incubators, corporates, government and ecosystem partners.
- Energy, drive, ownership and a hands-on mentality: you make things happen.
- Strong communication and presentation skills and the confidence to represent HTCE with founders, investors, partners and on stage.
- A collaborative and highly visible way of working. This is a Campus-based role: you are present where founders, companies and opportunities come together and are flexible when the role requires you to be there outside regular office hours.
- Excellent English. Dutch is an advantage.
WHAT WE OFFER
- A key role in one of Europe’s leading high-tech innovation ecosystems, with direct impact on the growth of HTCE’s startup and scale-up community.
- The opportunity to shape and grow HTC27 and the wider deeptech startup and scale-up proposition of High Tech Campus Eindhoven.
- A competitive gross annual salary, depending on experience and background.
- A performance bonus and bicycle plan.
- A green, inspiring Campus environment with extensive sports, dining and event facilities.
- Room to grow through training, events and access to an exceptional innovation network.
