Chief Accountant

We are looking for a highly ambitious and driven candidate eager to drive our financial department towards the next level. Besides your drive, you offer strong credentials in financial processes and activities. As critical member of our Finance team, you work closely with our business controller and you report to the CFO.

In the beginning your key responsibilities will be predominantly operational accounting for the full cycle of the general ledger and month and year end reporting. In addition, you will also support financial reporting and projects to ensure compliance with the policies of the company as well as the regulations for grants. As SMART is expecting strong company growth, the job is adjustable and offers you a fast and interesting growth path if performance is in line.

Job description:

• Month and year end closing activities and external reporting duties
• Lead, coordinate and secure future growth of the accounting department (now 2fte)
• Reporting to internal and external stakeholders
• Follow and improve internal accounting policy and support audit requests.
• Support and assist the other departments in any financial/accounting requests.
• Implement the transition of accounts from Dutch GAAP to IFRS
• VAT submissions, Intrastat submissions and Intracommunity Performance
• Initiate and implement improvements to achieve a World Class Finance level.

The ideal candidate has /is:

• A Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• +2 years of accounting experience in an accounting firm.
• Excellent proficiency in written and oral English communication skills
• Knowledge of Dutch GAAP and IFRS is a must have qualification. 
• Knowledge of ERP/Accounting systems (Exact knowledge is a pre)
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• A high potential and motivated candidate, interested and capable to future development and career growth.
• Strong interpersonal skills interfacing with multiple stakeholders at different levels of an organization
