Your role as Chief Research Officer
Given our continuous growth and the importance of our research, we are looking for a Chief Research Officer (CRO). Our CRO will work with and report directly to the CEO. You will guide our team of researchers that develop our sorbent material to capture CO2 from the air. In this new executive role, you will manage and oversee all aspects of R&D, including operations and the team. The team is an international, multicultural team consisting of 6 female and male researchers.
You're responsible for designing the innovation roadmap, guiding and coaching the research team as well as understanding business cases and their translation into technology research specifications. You're able to be a strategic and creative thinker who shows excellent problem-solving skills and who enjoys networking and collaborating with other disciplines. As our newest member of the Management Team, you have a great interest in our industry and oversee all R&D projects.

We are looking for someone who has the ability and ambition to define and steer our research challenge toward international recognition. Since we offer a management position we believe an independent thinker with entrepreneurial skills, drive, and mindset would suit our startup environment best. Someone with great leadership skills and the ability and drive to listen and apply various leadership styles to our diverse team members. Pro-activeness is needed and you should quickly cut through complex issues.
Furthermore:
A Master's in a relevant field such as chemical engineering or chemistry with at least 10 years of industry experience.
Knowledge of chemistry and/or material science and scientific methods.
Substantial experience in fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, catalysis, or adsorbent materials.
Demonstrated experience in leading research teams and highly educated professionals.
Not a must but preferably knowledge of how to validate certain quality standards.
Ability to make your own decisions and feel comfortable doing so.
Strong analytical skills and ability to ask the right critical questions.
Fluency in English, both speaking and (scientific) writing, as we work in an international environment.
Lastly, you are living within commuting distance from Eindhoven or willing to move here in short term. Because that’s where the magic happens!
