Eye tracking is a promising technology for a more seamless VR experience, e.g. for providing active input or passive intent/focus analysis with many applications in gaming, healthcare, and research. Future foveated and varifocal displays will also benefit from accurate and fast eye-tracking.
What you will do
Imec has recently developed an eye tracking technology based on electrooculography (EOG) and electromyography (EMG) in which the eye’s gaze point is derived from measured skin potentials at five points around the eyes with the advantage of being cheaper and faster compared to camera-based solutions. The solution can also be used to measure subject’s facial expression. Your task is to integrate and evaluate, together with researchers from imec EOG eye-tracking in VR-goggles, facial expression recognition, balancing signal quality and creating prediction models. In addition, you will also evaluate wearing comfort using state of the art digital head models.
