Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the design and optimization of mechanical modules and subsystems for our Impulse Printing systems. During the development you will be responsible for generating the first concepts and architectural choices to detailed design, prototyping, testing and qualification. You work closely together with Electrical, Software and System Engineers to continuously improve performance, reliability and manufacturability of the impulse tool. Within the team, you take ownership of mechanical subsystems and play a key role in strengthening our in-house mechanical knowledge base.

 Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of high-tech modules and subsystems
• Translate system requirements into feasible mechanical concepts
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and documentation
• Perform tolerance analyses and ensure design for manufacturability and assembly (DfMA)
• Build and evaluate prototypes to validate design choices
• Define and execute test plans for qualification and verification
• Collaborate closely with electrical, software and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system integration
• Participate in and lead technical design reviews
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and standards
• Support supplier selection and manage outsourced mechanical components

 About you

 You are a team player who is result-oriented and hands-on. You get energized by solving complex mechanical challenges with elegant, practical solutions. You have strong affinity with precision mechanics, system design, and prototyping, and bring multiple years of experience in developing high-tech mechatronic systems. You are proactive, capable of working independently, and confident in making technical decisions. You are passionate about technology and not afraid to take the lead in building and scaling a new Impulse tool together with your colleagues in a dynamic start-up environment.

Qualifications

Core

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design within high-tech equipment or precision machinery
• Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably  NX and Teamcenter
• Broad experience with precision mechanics, motion systems, and structural design
• Knowledge of tolerance analysis and DFM
• Experience with creating technical drawings and documentation (TPD)
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation 

Assets

• Experience working with suppliers, including technical alignment, supplier selection, and outsourced component development
• Experience with thermal management and thermal stability design
• Familiar with risk analysis methods (FMEA)
• Experience with Finite Element analysis (ANSYS workbench)
• Proficient in Dutch.
